One Fan's Re-Interpretation of "One Night Left"

I just received an email from a family friend who had re-interpreted the lyrics in One Night Left to fit the cycling fundraiser events that they're currently involved in.  Not only was I flattered that someone felt so inspired from our music as to create an adaptation, but I think that's the first time anybody has "covered" us at all.  Thanks Krista, and good luck on your next race!

an inspirational version of "One Night Left" for your fondo climb soundtrack
(play locomotive's version in the background so you can hear the melody...)

One hill left

Close your eyes and listen to the wind go by
Let's hope it's not your tire hissing
It's no surprise kilometers keep flying by
So close your eyes and listen

None can say how long you will remain at play
And this great day is showing clearly
So it's okay, you'll finish this sunny day
And you're so kind you're always dearly

Well you've got one hill left
So do have no regrets
Yeah you've got one hill, that's one climb, left

(repeat chorus)

Close your eyes and listen to the wind go by
Let's hope that's not your tire hissing
It's no surprise kilometers keep flying by
So close your eyes and listen

'Cause you've got one hill left
So do have no regrets
Yeah you've got one hill, that's one climb, left

(repeat chorus)

Yes they applause
When you raised all your donations
Your friends are behind you
Your friends from all these nations
Your friends are behind you, here
For this great cause

You said you hear the grinding of your bones
But today your hips are instant as an olympian at midnight
Try to forget the pace that's happ'ning
I know your bladder's full already
I know your eyes are on the road
But you're getting close to the crest on the highway
So keep spinning and you'll be done

I never told you
But the week after Telluride
When you were at play
And your muscles strengthened in your absence
I decided to spoof this song in your name
You train and make yourself do repeats
Seeing each day you're flying through your races with ease

You tensed up the the muscles in your spine
And pumped the tires for the fight
You hummed this song through your teeth
You played along from all your fingertips
After the climb you reached a finish line you'd wait a lifetime to see
Science tells us these moments are possible
But only peddling can get you near
You made yourself into a believer when, for the first time ever,
You didn't question yourself being here

Now you don't know where you'll be going
But you can do it again next year
But the stop watch's click-ticking down the minutes to the finish
And your muscles burn in these hours like they're on fire
So pull your bike up that damn highway
Bring your lip balm to the cherry kind
Cause in the morning you'll be heaving
But tonight
See the finish and you'll have arrived
